ANCESTOR HUNTING SINCE 1961

Welcome

We are an Organisation of people the world over with the surname of FILBY or one of its many variants; FILBEY, FILBEE, PHILBEY or PHILBY devoted to furthering the study of our name derived from the village of FILBY in Norfolk, England. Family data will be welcomed as research is encouraged on a hobby basis. The Association is fully constituted and is a not-for-profit charitable organisation. We therefore rely on donations to further our research and support All Saints Church in the village of Filby.

Meet the Team

Alan W Filby

Alan W Filby

Manager / Treasurer / FFHS  In my own case, my parents, Len and Mary Filby, were involved with the Association from its founding. I remember attending the Homecoming in 1968, albeit, only being 7 years old at the time. I would like to see it continue, however, to be worthwhile it needs involvement from members and donations from those who benefit from our website research.

Deputy Manager I have been involved with the Association since our first 'Homecoming' in 1968. I am holding our 16 month old son in the photograph on the first article of the 'About Us' page. Standing next to me is my wife, Marion, who is actively involved with the running of the Association.

Marion Filby

Secretary / Editor / Researcher / Website.  My husband is Deputy Manager and we joined in 1968. I began my own family research in 1996 upon retirement. In 2003 I became Association researcher and answered website queries. Due to lack of voluntary support I have gradually taken on more roles to maintain its continuity. I now wear many caps! For our future we need more people to share these responsibilities for the benefit of all.

Tree Manager - Married to Christine (nee Filby) (GOONS Rep.) Their personal research brought them to the Association, then in 2003 Alan took on more responsibility. He produced an Excel database which would easily identify new individuals to one of our family trees, this can be found on our website. In finding common ancestors he then merges trees, hoping that eventually all may evolve from one single ancestor.
